What a ballgame at Estadio Tetelo Vargas! The Estrellas Orientales walked off the Gigantes del Cibao 12-11 in a wild one. The Gigantes jumped out with 4 runs in the 2nd, keyed by a Noelvi Marte double that plated 2, and Jake Holton's homer in the 5th made it 6-3. The Estrellas chipped away to tie it 6-6, and in the 7th Raimel Tapia unloaded a grand slam. 11-6, Estrellas!
And just when it looked done, the Gigantes answered in the 8th: Marcell Ozuna drove one in on a groundout, and Pablo Reyes crushed a grand slam of his own to tie it 11-11! Marte finished 4-6 with 2 RBI. Then, in the bottom of the 9th, Marco Luciano singled on a grounder to shortstop Pablo Reyes, of all people, and Miguel Bleis raced home with the winner. Patrick Weigel got the win, Jimmy Cordero the loss. The Estrellas move to 4-2 and lead the season series 1-0.
